What a great costume for the colonial era. This mens colonial costume is a study in blue (a color that seemed to be popular in colonial times). The jacket/top is all one piece. It’s long, with a dark blue or black wide border. And it has an attached blue vest with the attached white jabot and stand-up collar. The blue knickers match the jacket. Be sure to add white socks, and white gloves. You may want to get the wig and glasses separately, also. And the sword!–we also carry those.

This women’s dress is a good example of colonial costuming. It’s a lovely costume that’s a really flattering style. And it goes so well with the men’s costume above. This dress is a blue fitted jacket style with a nice peplum at the waist. Puffed 3/4 sleeves with black trim and bows and wide gathered white lace to set them off. The square neckline is trimmed with white lace. And the skirt is wonderful. Long and full, it is so representative of the period. You’ll want to add a colonial-style wig to really authenticate this costume.

Good representation of boys colonial costumes. This little costume really completes the family of costumes. He’s got a brown vest that has nice full beige sleeves with lace trim, and a nice beige jabot that is trimmed with lace. The brown knickers hit below the knees. This costume also comes with the three-cornered hat — black trimmed with white. Add your own white stockings and the colonial shoes or shoe buckle set.

Isn’t she cute? This sweet little colonial dress is brown, with a full long skirt. Also trimmed in beige–the nice long beige attached apron trimmed with lace. There’s full 3/4 sleeves with a wide full cuff of beige, also trimmed with lace. A square neckline with lace trim and an inset on the bodice of beige, with criss-crossed brown trim. There’s also a matching beige mop cap to top this costume off.

There is so much to learn about the colonial time period. After all, this is basically when our country began. There were thirteen colonies at that time, all on the east coast. Betsy Ross made the American flag, by hand. Stars and stripes. The Puritans and the Pilgrims played a big part in this era. (In fact, you may want to look at a Pilgrim costume website, too.) As did the native Americans.

The ritual of Thanksgiving emerged from this colonial period. George and Martha Washington, Benjamin Franklin, the American revolution. All were huge influences on the way America turned out.
